Independent study offers the opportunity to study at a student’s own pace and convenience, with the Director of Student Services providing guidance and feedback. While it is available to all students, it is most often used by those who live far from campus or are unable to attend traditional classes. A student can enroll in an IS course at any time. Once the student enrolls, he/she has four months to complete the course. Examinations are supervised by MSU Martinsburg staff or an approved proctor. See the School of Extended and Distance Education section of the Web site for a list of currently offered courses.
Admission Requirements
To qualify for admission, students must submit an undergraduate application, $25 application fee, high school diploma or GED certificate, and “official” transcripts from any colleges or university attended. Students whose language is not English must also submit TOEFL scores.
