LPN to B.S.N. Pathway

Regardless of how you choose to complete the LPN to B.S.N. curriculum, the first step requires completion of the University’s general education requirements and the nursing program’s required supporting courses. Two options are available to fulfill these requirements: health care track of Spectrum (an integrated general education program that requires class attendance one evening a week for four semesters) or independent study.

Students with an active unencumbered LPN license receive 26 hours of advanced placement credit for nursing program courses upon successful completion of NURS 250, 260, and 260L (totaling 4 hours). These transition courses are completed during the first semester of upper-division coursework; enrollment is subject to successful completion of general education requirements and admission and program requirements listed for the traditional nursing program. Advanced placement credit is granted for the following courses totaling 26 hours:

BIOL 222 Nutrition
HLTH 103/L Introduction to Health Sciences & Lab
HLTH 211 Medical Terminology
IT 100 Introduction to Computers
NURS 211/L Basic Concepts of Nursing & Lab
NURS 215 Introduction to Nursing Process
NURS 222/L Nursing-Childrearing Family & Clinical

Upper-Division Nursing Courses

Students can complete upper-division nursing courses through the cohort program by attending one or two evenings a week, with 8 to 16 hours of clinicals scheduled on the weekends, week nights, or at other times. Courses are offered in the following sequence:

NURS 212/L Health Assessment & Lab
NURS 225 Pathopharmacology
